Where are the Young Men?

"...I write to you young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one." (1 Jn. 2:14b)

Is this true of you? Are you strong in the Lord? Does the Word abide in you? Have you overcome the evil one? This is obviously how the young men that John was writing were.

Where are the young men today?

I believe many young men, even those from "Christian" homes, are caught up in the things of this world. There is not much expected of them, so they just cruise through life doing what's easiest on themselves. Fulfilling the status quo and not going beyond it.

As Christian young men, we should realize that we are the next generation of leadership in the Church. We need to live our lives in such a real and vital way that we have something to share when the opportunity arises. It is imperative that we deal with any complacency in our lives and that we train ourselves to live godly lives in Christ Jesus.

Just think, you will probably be the head of a household someday. That thought alone should have us on our face before God beseeching Him to give us grace to stand against the wiles of the enemy. However, even if it is not in God's will for you to marry, you still should have a walk that is living. A walk that, when called upon to give a testimony or share something in church, you'll be able to do so.

So, I encourage you to get quiet before God and examine yourself. Seek the face of the Lord and ask Him to give you something to say. We all have something to say, find out what God wants of you and say it! Be an example to others in the Church (1 Tim. 4:12)!
